NEW TUNES – FINALLY! (October 6th 2008)

The year-and-a-half long recording sessions are finally done. There are about 50 or so new tunes ready. Six of them are now uploaded to the Kaivosurma Myspace page. Take a listen and leave a comment.

At the moment we're looking for a label to release a record (7" – 10" – 12" – CD – whatever) from these sessions.

UPDATE (15.10.2007)

In the beginning of the summer we lost our rehearsal place and had to rethink the whole system. So, while the four piece live band is more or less on hiatus, the original duo is still going on. During the summertime we've been writing and recording new material, and there are about 40–50 new tracks in the pipeline. Not surprisingly, the new stuff sounds quite different from our ep's.

In the meantime Shitsuck Tapes has released a live tape "Hahmotushäiriö Live" featuring the live sets from Jyrki Nissinen, Sur-Rur and Kaivosurma. Recorded live on – surprise surprise! – Hahmotushäiriö compilation album release party last year. Pretty raw stuff.

'HAHMOTUSHÄIRIÖ' LP OUT (23.8.2006)

Long awaited compilation LP 'Hahmotushäiriö' has recently been released by Kissankusi Records. Among others it features two old Kaivosurma tracks 'Kiinalaiset' and 'Nauris' dating from 1999 or so. It's a great package with some awesome tracks so get it!

There was a record releasing party in Vastavirta Klubi, Tampere 12.8. On the bill were Kaivosurma, Sur-Rur, Jyrki Nissinen & His Travelling Spedeshow and Mikko Lehtonen. A good party indeed. It was also Kaivosurma's second ever show, 15+ minutes of speeding and tremendous sweating. Huh.

LIVE DEBUT DONE! (May 2006)

We played our live debute at "Sekakäyttörock 8" in Helsinki, Bar Factory 13 may and it went reasonably well. No major fuck-ups or anything like that. The set was: Kulmahiomakone / Kirottu / Tavutang / Schleiermacher / Anti-American / Henki lähtee / Wellit / Eteenpäin / Alas / Kasvavan vana / Pysähtyneisyyden ajan poliittinen kukoistus / Tooling for Anus / Draw Blank / Pay No Attention.

KAIVOSURMA NOW A FOUR PIECE (20.3.2006)

Rehearsals for the upcoming live debut continue. Due to this, there have been some changes in the line-up. Janne plays bass now and Markku switched to guitar. Drums are being handled by a mysterious moustached gentleman. Time will show how this line-up works.

COUNTDOWN TO APOCALYPSE (7.8.2005)

Not much updates lately, huh? Well to be honest there haven't been much to report of. The main news this time is that from now on Kaivosurma pages can be found on Slode.com adress so update your links. Things on Kaivosurma in general are going pretty smoothly. We have had several rehearsals and stuff like that. Looks like our first gig is this autumn. More info soon.

THINGS START MOVING... (17.8.2004)

Strange and unusual things are happening: Kaivosurma's first real rehearsals were held last sunday in Tampere Mega City. Finally! We're as amazed by this fact as you are. The line-up is Kalle - vocals + bass, Janne - guitar, Markku - drums.

Since Kaivosurma's debut EP "Saatanan lampaat" is now sold out and no repressing is in sight, the whole EP can now be downloaded from this very website. Click here.

SO WHAT'S UP? HMM... (22.4.2004)

Something new is finally happening here. As you might have noticed the third Kaivosurma EP has been in the works for quite a while. This is because there have been some (make that a lot) small but extremely irritating problems with the recording devices, instruments and almost everything else imaginable. It looks a little brighter now since about 90% of the stuff has been already recorded, and most of the songs are already mixed. If you want to hear what the upcoming EP sounds like, you can download a raw mix of the new song Eteenpäin!

There are some compilations coming featuring Kaivosurma. Kaivosurma is included on Kissankusi Records compilation (CD-R? LP? Wax cylinder?) with two or so previously unreleased tracks from 1999 demo. Kaivosurma have also provided a track for Matti Nykänen tribute cassette. Ah, the humiliation!

"SAATANAN LAMPAAT" SOLD OUT (22.4.2003)

Kaivosurma's debut EP "Saatanan lampaat" is now finally sold out. You shouldn't hold your breath for a second pressing 'cause there won't be any. You'll just have to wait for the six CD discography box on Rhino or something...
